The Species at Risk and the Mission to Save Them

South Africa holds the majority of the world’s remaining rhinos. That’s not just a statistic, it’s a responsibility. Both black and white rhino populations depend on the conservation efforts happening right here, right now.

Global World Rhino Day falls strictly o‌n September 22 each year, regional conservation weeks, however in our region, immersive rhino-tracking experiences usually take place during the dry months (June to September) when visibility in the bush is at its best. Rhino Conservation Week – 26 June to 4 July 2026 unites Southern Africa in support, education and action for our black and white rhino populations.

Three rhinos are poached in South Africa every day. These animals are part of our national heritage – losing them means losing a piece of who we are. You are key to changing this story.

The Boucher Legacy is on the ground making a difference. So far, we’ve helped load 50% of all living rhinos in South Africa onto a DNA database a critical tool in fighting poaching and trafficking. It  currently costs $1,090 to collect a single sample from a rhino, but every sample brings us closer to protecting the entire population.

We are aiming to raise R10 million to save the rhino, pangolin, and other dwindling species. This goal is big, but so is the crisis we face. South Africa’s rhinos survive because of people like you.
